Red Bull(s) give you wings
Adam Najem comes to Philadelphia as a product of the New York Red Bulls Academy. During his time with NYRBA, Najem and his U-16 team won the 2012 Academy championships, where he assisted on the trophy-clinching goal. He was also the No. 1 collegiate recruit from New Jersey and signed with Akron.
Najem played all four seasons at Akron, competing in 89 games for the Zips and accumulating 95 points during his career. In every season, the Zips made the NCAA tournament; its best run being the team’s College Cup semifinal appearance in 2015. Najem was named to the All-MAC First Team every season at Akron, and also received First-Team NSCAA Academic All-American honors in 2015 and 2016.
When Najem takes the pitch, it won’t be his first taste of professional soccer experience. Najem previously played for the Michigan Bucks in the USL PDL league. In 11 games, Najem registered a goal and nine assists, adding another goal and assist in the playoffs. Between his junior and senior years at Akron, Najem flirted with the idea of playing pro soccer in Europe. He spent time training with Deportivo de La Coruña B, the reserves for DePortivo de La Coruña of La Liga, before returning back to the states for his senior year with the Zips.
