Union soccer is back.
Philadelphia Union kickoff the season in Vancouver against the Whitecaps on March 5. On March 11, the Union return home to face off against Toronto FC for the home opener.
Starting March 4 is the Union’s March to Soccer, a week-long event with daily activities, which culminates with the home opener. Below are times and dates for all the events. More details will be released about each specific event as each event gets closer.
March 4 – Select a Seat Event
With one week before the home opener, this event gives fans a unique chance to preview their seats before purchasing season tickets. Fans can select their seat, sit in them to get a first-hand view of the sightlines and then purchase their tickets.
March 5 - Season Ticket Member Shopping, Fan and Sons of Ben Mural Paintings, Season Opener Watch Party
March 5 starts with a special season ticket member shopping event. The Union Shop will be open 10-4 Sunday, and only for STMs, where they will have the first chance to purchase 2017 merchandise. In addition to the STM shopping event, fans and Sons of Ben members will be painting their own respective murals in Talen Energy Stadium. Fans will paint a Union mural on the north side of the stadium, while the Sons of Ben members will have their mural near the river entrance. Both murals will be ready for the home opener against Toronto FC.
That night, Neshaminy Creek Brewing will be hosting a watch party for the Union’s season opener against the Whitecaps. Fans are encouraged to wear blue and gold for the match and will be treated to drink specials.
March 7 – MLS Commissioner visits Philadelphia, YSC Announcement and Mayor Visit
In advance of the Union’s home opener, Philadelphia will welcome MLS Commissioner Don Garber to the Union offices. Commissioner Garber will first meet with the Union players and technical staff before attending the team’s monthly all-staff meeting, where he will also see firsthand the Union’s new match day activities. Commissioner Garber will then travel to the Philadelphia Union Academy, getting a tour of the facilities and meeting with the team and technical staff. The commissioner’s final stop will be a news conference with Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney, where the two will celebrate eight years of soccer in Philadelphia with the Union’s leadership.
March 8 – Meet the Team
An annual tradition, fans will have the opportunity to meet the Union players at Dave and Busters at the Penn’s Landing location from 7-9 Wednesday night. Fans are encouraged to wear blue and gold to the event. Season ticket members will meet with the team exclusively from 7-8, and then 8-9, the event will be open to the general public.
