If you were at the Union's home opener against Toronto FC, you know it was cold. Really cold. And because of that, the Union weren't able to do all of the pre-game and in-game entertainment fans will experience this season. So, in order to give fans the true game day experience, the Union are dubbing the match against Portland, "Home Opener Part DOOP." Below are all the experiences fans will witness.
Performing at every game before kickoff will be Mad Beatz Philly. The drumline will perform out on Toyota Plaza and within the stadium all the way up until the opening whistle.
Accompanying each team’s procession into Talen Energy Stadium and throughout the player introductions and national anthem will be enormous banners on the field, celebrating Philadelphia soccer and the Union. Each flag is designed to create an engaging atmosphere before pregame and to get fans excited for the start of the game.
If you’ve ever been to an indoor stadium, chances are parachutes have dropped giveaways on fans. Now, the Union will be the first team ever to bring those parachute drops outdoors. While Mad Beatz is performing pregame on the field, parachutes will drop into the stands, giving fans some of the best giveaways the Union has ever had.
With a new season comes new art. Much like the new banners, the deck flags are inspired by and created for Union fans.
There are two new fan-painted murals painted in Talen Energy Stadium. At the Supporters’ Gate is the new Sons of Ben mural, painted by tifo guru Ryan Bross, featuring Ben Franklin and the Philadelphia skyline.
And at the River Gate, a Union flag mural is present, painted by the Union Fan Council, and is complete with a Join or Die snake and the Philadelphia Union skyline.
Upgraded VIP Entrance
The VIPs will feel even more exclusive with the updated VIP Entrance. Designed for the luxury and exclusivity of being a VIP at a Union game, that experience starts as soon as you walk into Talen Energy Stadium.
New Parking Lot
Union fans will now have another area to park their vehicles. Lot F, located near the Delaware River, will be an open parking lot for all fans.
New Gate Art
To fully welcome Union fans to Talen Energy Stadium, the Union have created new signs for the gates, inspired by the Union and its fans.
FOOD AND BEVERAGE
Union Ale House
A must-stop destination for our 21 and over fans is the Union Ale House and Deck. Located above sections 103 and 104, the Union Ale House will have a large variety of beers, ranging from microbrews and craft beers all the way to domestics. But not just beer will be sold there, as soft drinks and liquor, including the Union’s In the Mix winner, will be sold.
Food and beverage at Field Seats and Field Tables
Another added feature to increase the game experience is food and beverage at the field seats and field tables. The food and beverage will allow fans to enjoy the full game experience with the convenience of having the best seat in the entire stadium.
Food Trucks Plaza
Outside of Talen Energy Stadium on Toyota Plaza will be a new culinary experience. Dubbed Food Truck Plaza, Union fans can purchase food and beverage from local Philadelphia food trucks while tailgating before the game. Fans are also encouraged to grab some grub during halftime.
Another feature for our of-age fans, liquor will now be available for purchase at every concession stand. And at select locations, fans will be able to purchase the Union’s In the Mix contest winning drink.
