Union vs. Harrisburg

Union host winner of Harrisburg/Reading in fourth round of US Open Cup

The Philadelphia Union received its draw for the fourth round of the US Open Cup, and will host the winner of Harrisburg City Islanders vs. Reading United on June 14.

Harrisburg City Islanders defeated Ocean City Nor'easters, a PDL team, in the second round of the tournament in penalty kicks on May 17. The two teams played to a scoreless draw through the first 120 minutes, but the Islanders prevailed in penalties 6-5. Playing the Union would be a homecoming of sorts, as the Islanders were the Union's USL affiliate from 2010 until 2016, when the Union created Bethlehem Steel FC as its affiliate.

As for Reading United, they come into the match with all the momentum after upsetting reigning NASL champions New York Cosmos in their second round matchup. Reading scored three goals in six minutes during the first half of the match, and held on for one of the biggest upsets in the second round. Reading United would be playing their big club if they advance past Harrisburg, as Reading is the Union's PDL affiliate, with members such as Ray Gaddis and Keegan Rosenberry playing for both squads.

The Union have faced Harrisburg in the US Open Cup three times, winning all three. However, the team has never faced Reading United in the Open Cup.
