During the past couple of weeks, the Philadelphia Union Foundation has had a few fundraising events, and thanks to the generosity of the Union faithful, the organization was able to raise thousands of dollars for the charity.
The first event was auctioning off game-worn kits from the Union's Military Appreciation Night against Colorado Rapids on May 20. The kits, complete with camo numbers, were auctioned off online and raised more than $4,200 for charity.
Another event, which truly put the "fun" in "fundraising" was the Philadelphia Union Foundation's Car and Pinata Smash, was a part of the Demolition Derby ahead of the Union's match against New York Red Bulls. Fans took swings with a sledgehammer to a Red Bull car and kick soccer balls and Red Bull pinatas, and Foundation raised more than $700.
In total, Union fans raised more than $4,900 money for charity in the past two weeks, and those at the Union and Union Foundation thank you immensely.
Union fans should also save the date for the September 13 for the 5th annual Cocktails and Cleats event. The event serves as a way for the Union to thank fans for their continued support of the Foundation throughout the season, as well as serving as another fundraising event. The Foundation uses the funds to support charities and programs in Chester and Philadelphia. Cocktails and Cleats is the Foundation's biggest fundraising event of the year, and always a fan favorite.
