Andre Blake and the Jamaican National Team earned a 1-1 draw against El Salvador Sunday night.
El Salvador was the first to score in the 15th minute of the match, and controlled the game with 54.1 percent possession and 10 shots on goal. Blake continued to defend the net with two saves and stopped El Salvador from scoring again with a key save in the 59th minute on Rodolfo Zelaya.
The Reggae Boyz were able to add a point to the scoresheet in the 64th minute with a penalty kick from Darren Mattocks. Mattocks goal makes him the top scorer for Jamaica in CONCACAF Gold Cup history with four goals.
Bethlehem Steel FC midfielder Cory Burke also started for the national team and played 45 minutes in the match before being subbed off at halftime. Burke continues to play a defensive game with two fouls committed in the first half of the match.
Jamaica and El Salvador will each advance to the knockout stage of the tournament. Blake, Burke and the Reggae Boyz will face off against Canada Thursday at 7:30 p.m. ET. Fans can watch the match on FS1, Univision and UDN.
