Chicago tastes defeat
Chicago Fire's 11-game league unbeaten streak came to an end Saturday, despite New York City FC's Yangel Herrera being ejected in the first 12 minutes of the match. The Fire faced its first MLS loss since April when David Villa and Frederic Brillant scored three minutes apart for NYCFC in the 47th and 50th minute. Chicago was able to find the back of the net in the 54th minute with a goal from David Accam, but it wasn't enough to secure themselves another victory.
Houston earns first road win
Houston Dynamo earned its first road game win of the season with a 3-1 victory against DC United Saturday. Although four regular starters were away at the Gold Cup, Houston was still able to score all three goals in the first 17 minutes of the match. DC found its way on the scoreboard in the 62nd minute with a goal from Bobby Boswell, but the team wasn't able to stop the Dynamo.
Seattle on the rise
Seattle Sounders secured its 3-0 win against San Jose Earthquakes Sunday night, despite the absence of several key players like Clint Dempsey and Jordan Morris away for international duty. Seattle midfielder Cristian Roldan scored back to back goals in the 54th and 56th minute. The team sealed its win 10 minutes later when Kelvin Leerdam scored his first MLS goal in his first start. The fifth place Western Conference team looks for their fourth straight win against LA Galaxy this weekend.
Hit the showers
Six cautions were issued in Real Salt Lake and Sporting Kansas City's hard fought 1-1 draw Saturday night, along with RSL coach Mike Petke getting ejected in the 72nd minute. Luis Silva scored his first MLS goal in the 43rd minute for RSL, but was short lived by Benny Feilhaber's conversion in the 59th minute for Sporting. SKC has gone the last seven games without a loss and looks to face off against second place Chicago Fire this weekend.
