Tuesday night the MLS All-Star Week extravaganza continued throughout the entire state of Illinois. Toyota Park home of the Chicago Fire in Bridgeview was the venue of a match that proved to be just as heart-warming as much as it was memorable.
Robert Esquilin and Jeremiah Ellis, two incredible individuals represented the Philadelphia Union family in tremendous fashion. The two athletes participated in the Special Olympics Unified MLS All-Star Match presented by ESPN and MLS Works.
Esquilin started for the Eastern Conference squad against the West representing the City of Brotherly Love in a competitive contest in the shadows of Downtown Chicago. Ellis entered the contest shortly after the whistle, as both players paired on the pitch with one another for the majority of the contest.
The East jumped out to an early lead and they entered the half up 1-0. The second half had its fair share of fireworks as the teams combined for three total goals with the match ending in a 2-2 draw.
Overall it was a great day for everyone involved with Special Olympics and MLS. Our very own Jeremiah Ellis even made it on the ESPNFC social media platform!
