Philadelphia Union Unveil 2018 Primary Jersey, Updated Club Badge
Updated Union brand identity features brighter, more vibrant shade of gold;
2018 jersey reinvents Union’s look by removing center gold panel
CHESTER, Pa. (Jan. 25, 2018) – Philadelphia Union today unveiled their new 2018 primary jersey along with their updated club badge.
The 2018 jersey brings a new and fresh identity for the Union by removing the center gold panel from the design for the first time in club history, replacing it with subtle hoops in two shades of navy. In addition, the Union’s new badge features a cleaner, simplified design, with a brighter, more vibrant shade of gold used throughout, and one signal blue stripe down the center.
“We conducted fan research to solicit feedback about updating our on-field look moving forward,” said Doug Vosik, Union Vice President of Marketing. “The biggest thing we heard from our fans is that they wanted change. They wanted something fresh and unique. To help achieve that goal, we’ve landed on a badge and a kit that are both bold and new for us: brighter colors, and more fashion forward.”
Additional elements of the 2018 primary jersey include the club’s “Join or Die” slogan emblazoned below the neckline on the back and the signature snake at the jocktag on the lower left portion of the front, matching the secondary jersey, which returns for 2018 with the updated badge. Bimbo’s partnership with the Union remains for the jersey, with the company’s logo at the center of the kit.
As part of the redesign, the Union also unveiled an entirely new secondary logo and wordmark, both prominently featuring the snake design utilized at the center of the club’s badge.
