Philadelphia Union Homegrown defender Auston Trusty has begun the team's first training session in Clearwater, Florida. Needless to say, he's happy to be back on the pitch and prepping for the 2018 campaign with his teammates.
“Training’s been really good the past couple days," Trusty said. "It’s actually my first preseason I’ve been with the first team because I was with the national team."
Last year, Trusty missed preseason due to national team duties, where he was named to the roster for the 2017 CONCACAF U-20 Championship.
There, Trusty started in the final match of the Classification Stage against El Salvador with a 2-1 win for the U.S. that guaranteed them qualification to the 2017 FIFA U-20 World Cup. He competed in the final competition and was a part of the U-20 champions of CONCACAF.
This season, Trusty's happy to be back with the guys and gearing up for the season to begin.
"It’s good to get back on the field and get back on my feet and get everything going again," Trusty said.
Fans can see Trusty and the Boys in Blue take on New England Revolution for the team's home opener, presented by Oliver Heating and Cooling, on March 3. Tickets can be found here.
