Union Power Rankings: Week 2

Philadelphia Union will return to the pitch on Saturday afternoon when they host Columbus Crew SC at Talen Energy Stadium. The Union are coming off a rare week two bye-week, which made for interesting commentary around the country as we dive into the MLS Power Rankings from this week.

Soccer America: No. 7

The Union moved up a spot from last week to number seven in Soccer America’s MLS Power Rankings. The analysis is pretty simple and spot on from the writers at Soccer America, “Philly gets a good measuring stick this weekend when Crew SC comes to town.”

ESPN: No. 14

Philadelphia dropped two spots in ESPN’s MLS Power Rankings from last week due to their off week. At ESPN the consensus is the club will move the needle once they return to the pitch. “The Union have to wait until next week to build on their Week 1 victory.”

MLS: No. 15

The Union moved up two slots on the league website as the MLS editors moved Philadelphia to number 15 on the list. As the Union prepare for their match this week against Columbus, MLS gave their insight on the club’s rare bye-week. “The Union were off this week, but they were no doubt paying close attention to how the Impact played their next opponent, Columbus. The bye may give Borek Dockal the time to get ready for his MLS debut.”

Check back next week as we’ll take a look at how the Union fare in the Power Rankings after their weekend match with Eastern Conference foe Columbus Crew SC.
