Union Power Rankings: Week 3

Philadelphia Union are out of action this week due to the FIFA International Window. The club is coming off a nil-nil draw against Columbus Crew SC last weekend at Talen Energy Stadium. With Philadelphia remaining near the top of the table in the Eastern Conference, we'll take a look at how the pundits from across the country stack up the Union in their Power Rankings.

MLS; 12

Philadelphia Union made their biggest leap in the Power Rankings on MLSsoccer.com as they moved up three spots to number 12. The analysts on the league site understood that having a young backline face a feisty Columbus attack could have presented a problem, but the Boys in Blue stood tall, “The Union played the kids to (slight) success once more, against a Columbus side that had been fluid in attack in the first two weeks.”

Soccer America; No. 7

The Union remained in the number seven spot in Soccer America’s MLS Power Rankings. The draw with Columbus didn’t move the needle in any direction for the club, as the writers from Soccer America gave a small taste of the club’s newest signee, “The debut of new DP Borek Dockal lasted 77 minutes. He missed his two shots from distance.”

ESPN; No. 15

Philadelphia dropped one spot in the eyes of ESPN in their MLS Power Rankings landing at the number 15 position. The draw with Columbus raised the question that Head Coach Jim Curtin was asked in his post-match press conference on how they viewed the result. Here is what the folks at ESPN had to say on the matter, “Good point won, or two points lost? The Union did enough to keep Columbus off the board.”
