With Memorial Day approaching, soccer fans on the Eastern seaboard will get another glimpse of international soccer at Talen Energy Stadium. On May 28, the United States Men’s National Team will take on Bolivia in an international friendly.
Head Coach Dave Sarachan discussed in a press conference at Talen Energy Stadium at the end of April to preview the match. The theme for the USMNT as they come to Talen Energy Stadium is the exciting young talent that is available for Sarachan as he selects his squad for the friendly.
“I’d like to think there’s a little more hope with the program, with the direction we’re going, the exciting young talent that’s emerging,” Sarachan said to a group of reporters at Talen Energy Stadium in April. “That makes me feel proud because the work kind of speaks for itself at this point. Young guys are getting great minutes.”
Much like Philadelphia Union, the United States Men’s National Team is loaded with young talent that has an opportunity to make an impact for the club from the moment they step on the pitch.
Fans have gotten a taste of 19-year-old midfielder Tyler Adams who has made three appearances for the Senior Team, playing 90 minutes in each contest. Another 19-year-old product impressed in his debut, as Weston McKennie scored in his first appearance for the Senior Team in an international friendly against Portugal.
The biggest news of the day involving young talent came in the announcement of Christian Pulisic. Coach Sarachan broke the news that the Hershey, Pennsylvania native will be joining the National Team in their match at Talen Energy Stadium.
The 19-year-old playmaker will take a break from scoring goals in the Bundesliga for German power Borussia Dortmund, and play in his first match at Talen Energy Stadium.
As the Men’s National Team roster continues to form, one thing is for certain. Fans in attendance will get a strong taste of young talent that Coach Sarachan and the United States has to offer in their friendly against Bolivia on Memorial Day.
