Phang and Gritty have hung out at both a football game and, recently, at an American football game. But what does Phang, who hatched on September 10, think of new Philadelphia Flyers mascot Gritty?
Brian Hickey of PhillyVoice wanted to find out. Phang's answer began -- appropriately if you've seen Gritty -- began with a shriek, but then the Union's Snake Supreme broke down his relationship with his big orange friend.
Make sure you get through the whole thing to find out about Torpor Awareness Month and what Phang thinks about the movie Anaconda!
Brian Hickey: The Union’s season ended in a disappointing playoff loss, but you were part of one of – if not the – best seasons in club history. What should fans expect to see when the 2019 season gets underway?
Phang: By many metrics, this was indeed the greatest Union season and by all metrics it was the greatest Union season I’ve ever been a part of. Everybody knows about the points, the wins, and the road wins. I mean, even my snake friends text me about all those assists Borek Dockal had!
But if you know me, you know I don’t just want to see soccer, I want to see la joga bonito, and that’s what the Union gave me this season. Always near the top of the league in possession, building out of the back, working passing combinations up the right side, hitting Fafa Picault up the left for a classic zig-zag-BOOM goal!
