UNION FACT CHECK: Union to face off against Rapids

  • Philadelphia Union will return to MLS action this week when they go on the road to take on Colorado Rapids.
  • This will be the club’s first road match of the season, kick-off is scheduled for 9 p.m. ET and will be televised on The Live Well Network.
  • The Union enter the week fifth in the Eastern Conference with a record of 1-0-1 and four points.
  • Based on “Points Per Game” Philadelphia is third in the Eastern Conference, averaging two points per contest.
  • Since 2013, the Union own a 2-0-3 record against Colorado Rapids.
  • Philadelphia owns an all-time record of 1-1-2 when playing in Colorado, but have not lost in the Mile High City since September 29, 2010.
  • In their last match at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park, Philadelphia drew with the Rapids thanks to a stoppage time stunner from Brian Carroll who scored in the 92nd minute of play with assists from Fabian Herbers and Ray Gaddis.

  • On March 17, Andre Blake recorded his 19th career shutout and his second of the season.
  • Blake is now one clean sheet shy of becoming the second goalkeeper in club history to reach 20; he trails only Zac MacMath (28) in the franchise record book.
  • Blake is the only regular starting goalkeeper in MLS to own a perfect 100 save percentage, and not allow a goal this season.
  • Jack Elliott has started in 31 consecutive MLS regular season matches.
  • Elliott was named to MLS Team of the Week on March 19, for his performance against Columbus Crew SC on March 17.
  • This is the second time in two matches that Elliott has been named to MLS Team of the Week in 2018.
  • Under Head Coach Jim Curtin, the Union own a .625 winning percentage against Colorado Rapids.
  • On Friday, March 23, Haris Medunjanin earned his 60th career cap for Bosnia-Herzegovina in a 1-0 friendly win over Bulgaria. Medunjanin logged 45 minutes as a sub for Bosnia-Herzegovina.
  • Last season, Medunjanin recorded the game-winning goal in the club’s lone meeting with Colorado in a 2-1 win at Talen Energy Stadium.
  • CJ Sapong has now started 150 MLS regular season matches in his career.
  • In the last calendar year, Sapong has recorded 15 goals and six assists.
  • Dating back to October, the Union own a record of 3-1-1 with Alejandro Bedoya as Captain. In those last five contests, Bedoya has recorded a goal or an assist in three of those matches.
