Union also announce opening week's training schedule as 2018 preseason begins

CHESTER, Pa. (Jan. 22, 2018) – Philadelphia Union have announced their training schedule for Jan. 22-28. The club will begin their first week of training for the 2018 season at both the University of Pennsylvania and Power Training Complex Grounds in Chester, Pa.

On Friday, January 19, Philadelphia Union acquired midfielder David Accam from the Chicago Fire in exchange for a total of $1.2 million in allocation money. Primarily a winger, Accam joins the Union following three seasons with the Fire, over which he scored 33 goals and added 15 assists. Since he came to MLS in 2015, Accam is one of just six MLS players to total at least 33 goals and 15 assists in league play. He is joined in that club by the last three MLS Landon Donovan MVP Award winners in Sebastian Giovinco, David Villa and Diego Valeri, as well as Ignacio Piatti and Kei Kamara.

David Accam will be introduced by the club in his first media availability on TUESDAY, Jan. 23, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. in the press conference room at Talen Energy Stadium. He will be joined by Sporting Director Earnie Stewart and Head Coach Jim Curtin. Members of the media planning to attend should RSVP with Matt Bodiford in order to receive the most up-to-date timing information.
